Limited progress

I fixed the engine mount with 8 M8 through bolts.  The bulkhead seemed stiff.  The mount works, but not perfect.  Here the mount in top position of four, and engine tilted up in second position of three.

Engine fully tilted.

I also spent some time sanding the traveller mounting areas, making ready for some layers of reinforcements at the joint positions.  The telescopic and swing up stainless swim ladder I bought is just a bit too wide to fit on starboard side.  I'm working on a solution, but it's all still in my head.

No trailer parts.

Hi Tor , I couldn't find a suitable ladder either so made one out of carbon , it works well with quick release pins as it doesn't clear the tiller . Your motor must only just clear the tiller too or are you having the remote internal system ? Cheers , Jim Buckland .

Good idea with the carbon ladder! I might even get back a kilo of my oversized engine weight penalty. The tiller will be a close fit, but it's not here yet, so haven't been able to check. I will probably have to raise the engine 1/4" for better access to the tilt mechanism, this will give equal better tiller clearance.
Another headache is the remote throttle/gear shift. Integrated in the tiller? Removable lever system? Where?

I haven't worried about a remote control system for the engine , the amount we use it doesn't warrant such a hassle . You have good vision standing on the swim platform for manoeuvring and for general getting somewhere we just steer with the rudder . If we had to instal one we would probably run the controls in a tube through the aft cabin to the cockpit . Avoiding doing it unless really necessary . Cheers , Jim Buckland

Maybe I will give it a try without as well. But I think I'd love to be able to control throttle and gear shift from the cockpit, although I probably won't run the engine much. I don't like how leaning back to shift gears takes all attention from traffic and steering in tight waters with "Frimann".
I have also planned to run the wires trough a tube across the aft cabin, the problem seems to be the control unit will be in the way no matter where in the cockpit I place it. And dimensions seems to be just too small to fit it most places. The best system I've seen so far might be the one on Rod T's F-32 PAX. But then I'd hate to steer with a throttle.....

The problem that decided me against a remote system is the propensity of gearlevers etc to grab and cleat off bits of rope when you really need them to run free ! Good luck with whatever solution you end up with . Cheers , Jim B.
